Night Routine

I felt like I wanted to post this because it is something I have a new found passion for, so ride with me folks. Night Routine is now a huge part of my day. Of course, there are exceptions to that rule, like the nights I come home at four in the morning after going out, but I have been following this routine almost religiously.

I love a good shower. There is just something about a hot as lava shower. Yes, I know the hot water is bad for me. No, I do not care if it is ruining my skin and drying out my hair. That's a problem for a different post. Showers are, by far, my favorite part of the day. I love the silence, I love being alone, I love feeling clean. My favorite face wash right now is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleansing Gel. It's $8-10 at CVS, Ulta, Target, Walmart, and it literally clears my skin like magic. If I don't use it just one day, I start to get breakouts the next morning. But they always clear up the moment I start washing my face again. Anyway, I really recommend anything from the Neutrogena Hydro Boost collection. I think it is really great and really helped to plump my skin.

Once I get out of the shower, I use Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer all over my face and then use Mario Badescu's Hyaluronic Eye Cream just under my eyes. I try to make the triangles that beauty gurus make with concealer, you know what I'm talking about. I do this after the Moisturizer has settled into my skin and "dried" because the Mario cream doesn't really dry overnight. I will add that using this makes me wake up feeling greasy, but I know it's just the cream. I don't know if that's how all eye creams are, this is the first I've ever used, but it really doesn't bother me.

STORY TIME: There was a two day period where I had really red, rough, and bumpy skin from a potential allergic reaction, which was around the time I had first bought my first container of the Moisturizer. Even after the swelling had gone down, my skin was still left feeling really rough and weird. I put copious amounts of this stuff on my cheek and, I kid you not, my skin was back to normal within two days. Actually, not even normal, but better and softer than a baby's butt. Ever since, I have sworn by this stuff. I use it in the morning before I do my make up and at night. There is even one for extra dry skin, which I also have purchased and I enjoy. I just felt like I didn't really need the extra juice.

After getting into my cozy PJ's, I floss and brush my teeth with charcoal toothpaste. I've only been using this for about two weeks now. I don't see a difference yet, but it's just as minty as normal toothpaste, so I figured if I don't see a difference after using the tube, I just won't repurchase. I only spent about $1 more than an average tube of toothpaste, so if it works then I will repurchase and if not, it's not a huge loss to my wallet. I consistently buy those expensive whitening strips and then never end up using them, so I'm trying this out for now. The brand is called Hello, it was $3.87 at Marshall's. I'm not 100% sure if that is where I should have purchased it, but you go into a Marshall's and you never come out empty handed, amirite?

After brushing my teeth, I grab a water bottle and head to bed. I do take anti-depressants and birth control, so this is when I pop those bad boys and try to drink as much water as possible (which is another thing I've been trying to do--drink more water).

Then I play Sudoku or BINGO on my phone, please don't judge me, and then go to bed. I have been trying to get on a better sleep schedule, but it just hasn't been working for me because of my job, so I don't really worry about going to bed at a certain time. If I get to bed before two in the morning, I am a happy girl. If not, no big deal. I am lucky that I can wait to start my day until noon, or even later sometimes, because of my school and work schedule.

Anyway, that's my night routine and some of my favorite skincare products. I don't use too much because I have found that using a million products made my face break out more. So, take my unsolicited advice, if you're dealing with breakouts and try bumping it down to one really good product. Please remember that some products just don't work for certain people, some products can even counteract each other, and just because this worked for me does not mean it will work for you. Let me know what your ride or die skin care product is down in the comments!!!
