How To: Purple Drinks!

Everyone loves those pink and purple drinks from Starbucks (you know the ones I'm talking about, don't even pretend you've never had one) and for YEARS I've been trying to find a recipe for a pink drink that is cheaper than actually going to Starbucks. Alas, I still have not found one. But, Starbucks does have a, subpar, purple drink. It is no pink drink, and does not taste of strawberries, but rather blackberries and hibiscus. If I had to choose I'd prefer a pink drink, but this one is just as good nonetheless, and it is much better than buying a $6 drink every day. After some time, I have finally figured out a cheaper, just as refreshing, alternative.

Things You'll Need:
Blueberries and Blackberries (optional)
Starbuck's VIA Instant Refreshers in Very Berry Hibiscus (I found them at Target, they're cheaper there than at Starbucks)
Coconut Milk
Water
Ice

Time to Make:

Approximately 5-7 minutes depending on if you prep the Refreshers before.

How To:

1. If you want to put the blueberries and blackberries in your drink for a garnish, I recommend freezing them. It makes them stay in shape a little better as you sip, and they can even replace the ice as well!
So step one is to freeze your fruit. I would just stick them in the freezer right after you come home from the store.

2. I prefer to prep the Instant Refresher in bulk ahead of time, by making an entire pitcher of it and storing it in the fridge until I am ready to make an individual drink.

Just pour the powder packets into water and mix to create your Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher.

Side tip: It says one pack of the Instant Refresher goes with one 16 oz of water, but honestly, I find that makes it much too strong. I would mix it with maybe 24 oz of water per pack. If not 32 oz. I prefer it to not be super strong, so this is just personal preference.

3. Once you are ready to serve, fill a glass 3/4ths of the way with your pre-mixed Refresher and fill the rest with coconut milk! Add your frozen berries and ice, mix, and you're ready to drink!!!

I am personally a huge fan of these and drink them consistently. One $6 box of VIA Instant's has lasted me around a month or so, which is cost efficient considering one box is the price of one Pink Drink form Starbuck's.

Let me know if you have any tips on how to make a Pink Drink from home because this is my next recipe I would love to figure out.
Happy Drinking!!
